if you put some good snow tires on 18" or smaller rims it's a tank. 19's or bigger with performance tires and it's a sled.

do a search, there are a few threads on this one.

I live in the Mountains of Utah... LOTS of snow.
X5 is great. OEM tires Suck!... get snow tires and the set up is wonderful.

Keep OEM tires and be prepared for trouble- keep Roadside Assistance number handy.

"JUST for your driveway" the oem tyres will do. i will post a short clip with my X in the snow on stock 17" michelins - you will see.

Bring On The Snow!!!

If you go with Blizzaks or a tire like them you will be fine in 12 inches of snow. Where I live we get around 300 inches (that's 25 feet) of snow each year from Lake superior lake effect so I know about winter driving. Stick with as narrow a tire as possible also. Now would be the time to be buying your winter tires as the prices will be less. I have 20's on my X now and have the 17's set up with blizzaks and ready for winter. Oh, by the way, had 24 degrees this past Saturday Morning (10 June) and had to scrape ice off the windshield!!!
