btw...anymore suggestions on fixing this would be a great help...maybe we should even make a DIY for this since it seems so common.
it is two screws man and unsnapping the connector super easy fix..you just get pissed at what they charge for the part.

I have the same issue, it happens most often after a heavy rain. I have found that I am able to stop the hatch from reopening by locking the doors.

That is because there is a little tiny piece of rubber insulting the switch and when it is wet it shorts.

lol....looks kinda ghetto...especially when you have prospective x5 passengers in your car...kinda puts that feeling in them "yeahh....im def. staying with the range rover" =x
shame....you pay over 50 grand for a high performance vehicle n this has to happen to me, with an expensive charge waiting for me at the dealer.

"trunklid unlatched" is a typical problem with early models (my '01) - replaced the latch, which also houses the license plate lights, 8 months ago - problem came back twice just last week - sometimes I think it's me while turning the key in the ignition (pressing the button)

It also could be not closing the hatch with enough force. If the hatch is "softly" closed it can pop out causing your dash display to read trunk lid open. Works for me.

You must admit, it is funny. They put a team of nerds on putting together a stero system (that I want to back over), and couldn't find anyone to figure out how to keep the hatch closed.

Yup, I just lock the doors prior to putting her in gear. Seems to be the work around for now.

Good luck
