Thumbs up Yet another newbie... bought 4.4 last night...

Howdy Folks,

Long time lurker, first time poster

Picked up my X5 4.4 sport, Sterling Gray, last night, Went for a long drive and love it. I came from an Infiniti FX and there is no comparison. I seriously considered a 4.8 but the numbers weren't there. I went with a two year lease, I felt I got a fair deal, but then again... I've not met too many people that did not feel that way.

The X5 will be my "daily driver", I also have a E63 (650i) Coupe so now there are a pair of BMW's in the garage

I was up extremely late, reading thread after thread here and this site is a GREAT resource. I've been bitten by the mod bug, I like to be a bit subtle with my mods, I always like that "it could have come that way from the factory" look. Here's what I'm thinking:

1. Staggered 132's replicas (20x9.5 & 20x10.5) from Lakeshore
- Suggestions for tires?
- Shouldn't need spacers right?
- They come with center caps, are they the OEM style "BMW" caps?

2. ipod interface?
- Since I have the NAV, I haven't seen a screen shot anywhere of it on the screen. I read where Tom was going to post pics, but I didn't see any.

3. Backup Camera
- I like the OEM look, so I'm hoping I can get the setup from EAS and use the OEM camera, I'd rather not drill the roundel and don't mind how it looks.

4. Tint (very lightly) all around
5. Rear sunshades (from Crevier)

That's all I can think of right now, but as you all know.. it's very likely to change.

Glad to be here!

Congrats! IFLYX5 here also has a 650 and 4.4. Lets see the pics. I have this backup camera from Martin. I believe you can still get it from him. Get the Michy Diamaris for 20" or the Toyos. I prefer Michy as the Toyo edges are roundish and changes look slightly.

:xoutpost: congrats, you'll love the X!
For the ipod interface, check the article section, I'm sure Jeff has an article with nav screen shots hooked to the icelink.
There's a lot of replica vendors on ebay, so check em out b4 you lull the plug.
As far as rubber, I have the toyo proxes s/t in 20's and I love them.

Sterling Grey is one of the best color for X5. So is mine. Good going!

I'll get right on that camera deal..

Thanks for the tire advice... i like the more "squared" look as well. Are these the correct sizes?

Front 275/40R-20
Rear 315/35R-20

tijanaw: I think I'll buy the replica wheels from the X5World vendor "Lakeshore Wheel & Tire"

JonK: This is my first "Non-Black" car in about 15 years. While I think black is gorgeous, I don't have the time any longer to maintain two black cars (My 650i is Black/Black) The Sterling looks a bit "elegant" as well.

Thanks for the greets guys!
