So I decided to eliminate the starter as a possible problem. So I removed the skid plate and used a test light to see if there is power going to the thin starter wire whne it happens. Sure enough when the problem happens the wire does not get power. So that means somewhere between the ignition key and the starter is the cause of the problem. I know that the key it's self is not the problem since the other key does the same thing. What I'm looking for is a wiring schematic or placement of ignition control components. I have the CD manual but it's very vague. Any help would very much be apprecated. Any thought or suggestions please let me know, Thanks Rob

Definitely not that. I've waited for several seconds before the final turn and still nothing. Thanks tho.

Just a thought. My guess is the starter solenoid. I am speaking straightly from a standard Auto Vehicle stand point. Inside the solenoid, there's a contact washer (if I remember correctly). Once it worn down enough, it will not make contact. That may explain why you didnt get current to your starter.
But than again, it may be within the ign switch. |

If you mean the solenoid thats directly attached to the starter. I checked the wire that powers the solenoid on the starter. There was no power going into the solenoid so that mean that it's not even getting into the solenoid inner workings.
Or if you mean the key starter solenoid can you be alittle more detailed, Thanks

Wow could be sveral things, I have an 04, and sometimes if turn the key to the III position and it does not start right away, I will have to turn the key back to the 0 and try again. I have also had keys the car did not recognize, because the battery had died and the key memory was lost. Last but not least, the security code opt may be on the bleek. Good luck

So many electrical issues maybe to blame. It's going to be hell to figure it out!

How about the old standby- neutral safety switch? Try to start in Neutral.

If I really get stuck I will try that but I really want to have it fixed. Anyone know if the dealer would use the port under the dash to hook up their computer. Last time I took it to the dealer they said that they couldn't get a 12v signal at the port. They said that it might be the aftermarket radio that caused no 12v at the port. I could re conneect my OEM headunits, anyone no if that might be why?

I had this TWICE before with other vehicles. It turned out to be the key that was shot, the chip in the key had gone. This can happen if you drop your keys hard too.
I know you say you`ve tried the other key, but is there any chance they could both be broken? or even that they need re programming to the car? Just a suggestion, I know it`s a long shot.
