when my "self level susp inactive" appeared, the dealer checked/diagnosed it for about 2 weeks. They can't seem to find the exact fault thru the fault scanner. they tested all the sensors and found the rear left to be faulty. they changed the rear left sensor. (another 2 weeks to wait for the parts to arrive).

I just got these ''wonderful'' messages 'selflevel susp.inact' and it look's like the X5 is leaning to the left side,
not that the left side is to low but the right side is to high  I just hope it's a sensor or a similar ''small'' problem, not the airbag it self.

I got the message after lowering only to realize that when I relifted the X, that rear height sensor had went the other way. You have to lower it slowly and make sure the sensors go the right way. I adjusted it and message disappeared!

self check timing
hi all,
There are alot of replies and forgive for not reading all of them and if a repeat somethin... BUT since having my x5 4.4 i have had the susp inac warning around 5 times and every dealer who has checked says its fine, I can feel and see its fine. One of the master bmw service guys told me it is to do with the system checking everything upon startup and sometimes there is a delay between them causing the checker(don't know lingo here) to think that the susp isn't activated when it hasn't given it a chance. He reprogrammed the boot up sequence and i have not had the issue since. This reconfiguration does not mean that the sensor for the suspension is disabled it works fine.

But mine suspension does NOT look or work fine,
the car is raised to the top on the right/rear tire and the ride is rock hard  All of the other tires are in normal setting and it looks like the car is falling on it's left side. Could this be a sensor problem or something more serious ?

Could be a sensor or control valving problem... I'd bring it in to the dealer as they GT1 tester can communicate with the air suspension control module and read the faults stored as well as activate functions like raising/lowering and read the sensors etc.
