Any Wheel Pros Out There?

Need help from all you rim-masters out there. I did a search folks and couldn't find an answer. So here goes. I have a 2006 X5 3.0. Will this setup work? I don't like having the tires bulge outside the body, but I like them to come out to the fender as much as possible without rubbing.

I'm looking at a set of 20" replicas.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-2...mZ120016544026

FRONT: 20x8.5 with 35 offset, tires: Toyo Proxes St 255/45 R20
REAR: 20x10 with 30 offset, tires: Toyo Proxes St 295/40 R20

I'd call or email the seller first. He/she may have documented experience with this fitment. The offsets are about 10-15mm off the standard X5 wheels, but with 8.5" to 10" wide wheels, you're not talking about a huge difference. The tire sizes you've listed should be just fine. However, I'd definitely check it it out before buying them. Good luck!

ddcha,
Dunno for certain, but I tend to agree w/D8 above.

Here's a well done site: carefully plug in your current
wheel/tire info, your proposed info and give it a look;
it will give you a straight on visual to work from.

Question

Thanks for your responses guys - they were really helpful.
TWO MORE QUESTIONS:
(1) does upgrading the wheels interfere at all with the tire pressure sensors?
(2) what's our center bore diameter on the 2006 X5 3.0? I've read on websites that it was 74.1, but the wheel dealer I spoke to swears it's 72.6. Which is it?

ddcha:
1-guessing, but it shouldn't; you may have to do the re-set deal.
It is not an in wheel sys., as it simply senses wheel dia rotation "variance".

2-dunno that either. I could go measure some spare wheels if
you are dying to know. (I don't know what wheels your '06 has,
but I gotta assume my spare 69s have the same bore. I know my
new set of 132 staggered 19s went on the hub Poifectly.)

ddcha,

Your dealer is correct - the center bore diameter on the X5 is actually 72.56 commonly rounded up as 72.6. There are many websites (and many posts within this forum) which have misstated the center bore as being 74.1 - that is incorrect.

Most bizarre, you will find that many 20" replicas for the X5 state they have a center bore of 72.56 but actually are cut 74.1. You will then find your new replicas endlessly frustrating as you wobble down the road despite having well-balanced wheels. Furthermore, the person selling them too you won't have a clue on how to fix the problem because they still think the rims are bored properly at 72.56 and won't take the time to actually measure them before selling them to you. A quick order of 74.1 to 72.56 (aluminum) hub-centric rings from www.1010tires.com will solve virtually all of your wheel-wobble problems and then life is all good again.

Good luck!

Those look sharp, would love to see them mounted on an X3/X5. Post some pics if you end up buying them....

All your comments were really helpful. I will certainly post pics when I get them. I've found a different set that actually has a smaller offset so that I can get a more aggressive/wider stance. Similar mesh look with OEM center caps. Getting same tires with 20x9 ET38 in the front, 20x10 ET22 in the rear.

Thanks for all your helpful responses. I'll definitely post pics when I get them. I settled for a different set. Similar look but smaller offset (wider stance). Running the same Toyos but the fronts will be 20x9 ET38 and rears will be 20x10 ET22. I can't wait!!
