I really liked the black ones when I first bought it. After looking at a new 4.8 at the dealer with both grill and vents "titaniumed" it grew on me. I still like black on black though.

i was about to spend a bunch of money of buying oem grill and hood inserts, but didnt even think of painting them, will try it this weekend, this is great, did you cover the chrome part of the insert with anything ?

I have done similar operation with my first E53 (I do not know technological tricks, it was made by painting specialist), see picture. First time it was O.K., I sold this car after some 6 months. I saw this car couple months ago, looks terrible! Painting on vent rest black holes, resistance of painting on the plastic like this is not so good. I hope in your case it will be O.K. (or you will sell this car before). Better is replace with genuine parts from BMW (as I have done to my second E53 (nachtblau, individual).
