I used to drive around with a fire extinguisher in my car. Then I thought if I had one I would be compelled to stop if I saw someone else on the side of the road who needed extinguishing. You read about these people all of the time. "Good Samaritan dies trying to put out car fire". So I got rid of my fire extinguisher. Also, if my car caught on fire I would like it to completely burn, the last thing I need is a half burnt car.

For the record, I have and would assist people in an accident or car fire, but a burning vehicle is not worth it. You should be a member for a while before you try to insult someone

good man. glad to hear it.

you did write:

"someone else on the side of the road who needed extinguishing"

so only replying to what I read. pardon me for getting miffed, but unfortunately there are folk out there who wouldn't help...loads of em. and as an ex-firefighter I find that hard to stomach.

don't see what my length of membership has to do with it.. do I collect up browny points that I can then use to 'buy an insult' ?

seriously mate, no offence... I mean... loads of offence if you were one of the folk that would drive by ... but since your not, have a good weekend.

Well, this is an old thread but I still did not see pictures from the original guy - was he able to actualy install the fire extinguisher or not?

And in many cases, this is not matter of whether or not this little thingie (1kg, or 2.2 lbs, by the way) can put anything out - in my case this is government requirement in order to allow car registration. So, I am in process of getting one, but i don't want those funky ones I see in some of the "beer-can" Hondas and Toyotas, I'd like to have an OEM one...

So, does it go under the driver's seat?

peace dudes, two days ago we got struck with a 6.1 earthquake - that @#$$%^ experience makes a man think twice about all those stupid insults - dude, buy an ice cream for your kids or grandkids, chill, spend time with the family, appreciate the friendships you got on this website... we only have one life...

Thank you stat - I don't wanna highjack the thread for the quake experience but believe me, when you see things that are supposed to be solid as a rock start flexing like a hot dog... and making that weird sound, it is like buildings are moaning and crying... that is SCARY!!! Even though our building is built to withstand some quakes, you never know if THIS one is the 0.1 over that built-in limit...

The OEM one mounts under the driver's seat. I had a EURO OEM extinguisher and mount on my E46 M3. Same as pictured in the first page.

You can mount it under the passenger seat if the first aid kit isn't there already, or if it is, you can swap the two. Though the instructions do specify to only mount it under the driver's seat (presumably to have quickest access to it in case of emergency). They also specify which direction the handle should face depending on whether you have manual sport seats or some other seats (likely to prevent interfering with the seat adjustments). (Of note, the first photo that shows it mounted is incorrect according to the instructions. On that manual sport seat the handle should face the opposite direction. The photo at the end of the instructions shows it correctly).
