This is why I will put up with window regulators and all the other stupid little parts that break!!! I feel safe in the X5! My life is worth more than $100 parts here and there!

Sorry about the crash.

The Toyota absorbed the crash and is the reason it looks so bad.
That is what modern cars are suppose to do.

absorb or not the point of a safe car lately is one that falls apart on impact not quite sure how thats a smart idea. glad no one was hurt

I don't understand, you would rather have people hurt and the car in better shape? All cars built today include crash zones that absopb the energy.
Most people think a a person saftey is more important guess you know better?

no thats not what i meant, i mean todays cars seem to absorb way too much. hard crash or not and quite frankly their safety of an airbag i have my doubts about but its just my opinion, theres a reason our trucks are safe and yet sturdy at the same time

Still don't get your point, cars should absorb less that way people are hurt only a little?

Looks minor on your part, but bumper will likely have to be replaced. Depending on the speed of impact, other things might be damaged too (BMW bumpers are supposed to absorb impacts up to 9mph). Get a good body shop to check it out.

I think the safety aspect has to do with how people drive in respective countries. In european countries esp. Germany, the vehicles are driven pretty quickly on the highways and therefore have stricter European standards to meet. In Japan, I don't recall there being a highway stretch that has a limit higher than 100 km/h, maybe 110 km/h. It's mostly city driving in that country and thus, who gives a damn about a car withstanding an impact?

No gives a crap about how it crashed or not, I am glad you are safe and that no one was hurt. He farked up your bumper pretty bad, but hopefully itll be looking good in no time!
