Question Folding Mirrors

Ok a bit of a weird one. I have a 4.6is and my dad has a 4.6is also but today I noticed he does not have the folding mirror switch on the drivers door??? I find this strange as my cousin also has a 4.6is and he has folding mirrors like mine!!! So is this a case of the previous owner damaged the switch and the replacement he got was wrong? Because on the BMW brochure it says that folding mirrors are standard on the 4.6is!

Are they both the same build year?? Not sure which year this became a standard option where you are, but in Canada it wasn't until 2004.

Yeah they are both the same build year. Infact my Dads is December/03 and mine is September/03! But on my 2002 UK X5 brochure is shows its standard on all 4.6is. So something is not right???

Just pop your module out and try in your dads see if that works. You dont have to take the panel off and there are 3 block connectors attached.

The folding mirrors are optional on all models (Option #430). I am sure Bavarian would fit them for a price :-)

Not according to my UK 4.6is brochure!! It says that "REAR VIEW DOOR MIRROR WITH ANTI-DAZZLE FUNCTION, INCLUDING FOLD IN FUNCTION, HEATED" is standard on the 4.6is from 2002 as this brochure has a stamp on the back saying printed 2002!!

I have a 2006 brochure and it says optional on all models. I guess they changed the spec somewhere along the line. They should have cost 220 pounds as a factory fit.

You cant get a 4.6is in 2006!! The 4.8is was the replacement and I have just looked at the UK brochure for it which shows that its an option for it! Thats a bit strange?? They made the fold in mirrors standard on the UK 4.6 but not the 4.8!!!
