Have you had the alternator, etc., checked? Unless the battery or alternator is bad, something must be draining it when the car is off. Have you added any stereo equipment, a radar detector, or anything else that taps the car's 12v system? If you have a multimeter you can check the draw on the battery when the ignition is off. Or have a shop do an electrical system diagnostic. Welcome to the neighborhood. |

In addition to NCX's thoughts above, make sure that your new battery is big enough. The OEM battery in my '04 3.0i died not too long ago and I replaced it with a NAPA battery. The case was 2-3 inches shorter than the OEM battery. It wouldn't go a week without dying. After 3-4 weeks, I charged up and reinstalled the OEM battery and drove it to the dealership for their $0.02. They diagnosed a dead cell and replaced the battery with a new BMW battery. I returned the NAPA battery for a full credit, and have had zero problems since. It's worth a look. FWIW, my 2002 X5 4.4i would drain a battery in a couple hours if the ICE or stereo was used without the car running. Good luck!

the whole thing was checked in high current and closed circuit in jan 06 and it given a clean bill of health.
i only purchased the car in sept and within two days it went in to the garage because it had no sound output from the TV or head unit...bmw think it needs a new radio because the vcr is wired into the radio. i have had the wiring for the radio and vcr disconnected and it still drained the battery. i suspect that something is staying on but i dont know how best to start to trace the problem |
