There seem to be two different things that people are talking about.

1. EWS Alignment of the key. This is required in order for the security encryption to allow the key to actually start the car. This is very easy to do and should be free at any good dealer or independent.

2. Programming the key to personal settings. We also charge for this, as it is a bit time consuming (not to mention the need for a $20,000+ factory level tool). 30 minutes to 1 hour is about right. Now if you bought the car or a lot of parts at the dealer, they should do it. We always do it as a courtesy for our customers assuming other work is being done. However, if a new customer comes in and wants just this, we would charge as it does take the labor and the tool.
