set 90 degree on Climate Control just warm?

Hi,

My 04 4.4i is can't get hot air. the winter is comming so I set the climate control to 72 degree and it is cold. so I set it to 90 degress (the highest I can set). which I just get warm air. (not very warm at all).

can this be the final stage resistor? the air condition still ice cold tho.

i am assuming your are turning the dial (in the middle of the dash between the 2 vents) that has the 3 blue dots on it to 3 red dots as well, right?

Thanks. but I am confused. is that mean if air condition is not used, then the digital climate control is useless? I have to use the dial between the 2 vent to adjust the incoming air temperature?

When I set it to 90 it blows out warm air

After about 10-15 minutes it gets closer to hot air.

My dial is on max red too (3 red dots).

My system did get a little better after I added more coolant. Maybe you guys should check that?

ya... the dial controls the air temp more then the actual digital temp control ive noticed that in my old e46 330xi and now my x5, its weird why bmw made that knob, shoulda just left it out.

Not true. If the A/C is on, the digital climate control is fine. If the A/C is off, the digital climate control will only heat, not cool. No surprises there.

The reference to the wheel with the blue dots is that some owners adjust it fully cold or warm in order to get the face level vents which the thumbwheel controls to be either colder or warmer than the digital setting. They then find that the digital setting can't maintain a temperature, it is being overpowered by the face level vents.

I leave the wheel at one blue dot all year, A/C always on, and my automatic climate control works perfectly in all temperatures. I like having slightly cooler air on the face, which is exactly what BMW intended it to be for. I would be disappointed if they ever discontinued it, I find it to be very useful.

Same for the other corner of the continent, except summertime sees the wheel parked at two blue dots. During the 38-day winter, we just put a mug of hot coffee in the center console to warm things up...

Check your coolant temperature gets to where it should. The dash guage is really only a high tech idiot light. Have it properly checked using a proper scan tool. It could be running cool.
