I want to disable this feature! Several times I have walked out to my X and all the windows are down... an invitation for articles in the SAV to be stolen. This happens because the key is in my pocket and the button gets held down. If the buttons were below the key's housing a bit more this wouldn't happen. Anybody else experience this?

I can actually open mine from the 5th floor of my office building when the car is 20 cars away in the parking lot.

Caution: If anyone sees you do this you'll look pretty stupid. However, your windows and sunroof can be opened 30 seconds earlier as you approach your car on a hot day!
I do this all the time and think it is a great thing! Especially when you are trying to remember where you parked your car at a large event. I always put the key under my chin and do it. My friends think it has something to do with little rays shooting out of your eyes. They are crazy but I love them.

This is a really excellent posting. Can someone "Sticky" post it?
It should be required reading for new owners, such as myself.
Thanks

That's funny I had mine for 6 months before I figured that one out.

Here's one for the board for automatics only - if your in traffic or need to stop the truck for a quick moment you can shift from 'D' to 'N' and back without pressing the button in on the gear shift - not sure if it was mentioned earlier but I discovered this in my previous car an '01' 325Ci series one day when I was driving along and my girlfriend hit off the gear lever by accident! - and no it wasn't what you think it was!!(ha-ha-ha)

By the way my '05' X5 3.0i sport does have the small flash light in the glovebox.

But your foot must be on the brake in order to go back from N to D. This is the first car that I've owned that requires this. The E90 that I tested a few months back doesn't have this problem.

Yes your foot must be on the brake or you can also use the handbrake.

Does anybody know how to programme the key so that it only opens the drivers door first then press the button again to open all the doors....??

Whistle Moon Roof Wind Deflector

Haven't seen this one anywhere, but if you are driving at or above 100mph and you have the moon roof open, the wind deflector automatically retracts to keep it from being blown out.

I do not condone any of you having a go yourselves to prove it though

Tested on a track under controlled conditions.
