It's not really a reset, because when you turn the ignition off it resets to it's default setting...

You can search around for tranny reset, it's very easy.
In your sig it says "with/out nav", so do you, or do you not have it? I've never seen w/o spelled out completely.

Actually, that's not true at all. The transmission adapts to your driving style, so shutting the car off does NOT set it back to default settings, it just stays at what it's learned. Resetting the transmissions gives it a fresh start, no adaptions, and can even cure some thumping issues and Trans Failsafe errors.

Transmission Learning Reset, Simply turn the key to position 2. Hold the accelerator to the click point for 25 seconds. Let go of the accelerator, start the engine and off you go. The transmission's learning algorithm will be reset to 0. Therefore, it will lose the slow and gentle acceleration that the previous owner used... from Silver_5 |

I did quite a bit of research on the Transmission / Driving style reset...
I posted my findings here: http://www.xoutpost.com/723906-post7.html It's an interesting read if you have time, it basically says that its a myth that the transmission is reset and that by holding the accelerator down you are telling the car that you will be driving aggresivly today... Unfortunately from what I have read the adaptive drive only functions from journey to jpurney and this information is not stored in the memory... I would love to read different though as I'm currently having some problems which this could solve, I believe a dealer can re-flash the transmission though which may cure some problems on a more permanant basis... |
