Welcome! Nice collection of toys....... Question though, I see you have a GX-470 in your garage right now. I guess if you're looking for a hauler and a dog hauler this might be a better option. I currently use me LC for any hauling for the simple fact I don't want to stress the tranny on my X5. For around town though, taking kids here I enjoy driving my X more for obvious reasons.

Good point. Well, the Lexus is my wife's. Hard to explain, but she 'hates' driving any of my cars. She knows how particular I am about proper parking spots, etc. and is paranoid she'll damage one of my cars. So, when I tow, I'll likely either have to use my car *or* get her comfortable with my car enough to drive it over the weekend when I'm away playing.

A new track is opening up 25 miles from my house, and I plan to join that track (country club style). That'll cut down on trips to the track and limit my need for towing except for the few times I'll be making the haul outside of town.

The Lexus is a great vehicle from a fit/finish/quality standpoint, but it's boring as hell and drives like two bowling balls teathered together with bungee cord. It's that bad. . . but she loves it.

Yeah I have to laugh when I switch vehicles from time to time. I think there are several guys here that tow with their X's. Several with double axle trailers. No idea how they tow. With the fact the gvw is what it is.....don't see why it should be an issue.

Update. Purchased the car, and hopefully have it here by Xmas. How fitting. I'm pretty jazzed up; this is my first SUV (my wife has had a few) and the only one I'm excited about. Thought the Chili Pepper was disengaging and ponderious. I think these cars are quite a bit more nimble an engaging.

I was searching for reviews on the X5 4.8is, and I found this from the British press:

"With such a huge, flat tread footprint off-road traction is poor, but that would be getting sensible and this is fundamentally a magnificently absurd car"

"8iS customers will probably have a 911 or a Ferrari in the garage as well. The target demographic for this vehicle could loosely be described as the pornographically affluent. Its showy, its excessive, its quite unnecessary. I want one."

Hey fellas, the X5 has been treating me well. I haven't been hunting around this board that much so I don't have a good baseline for comparisons, but what I can say is that the Superspint exhaust not only looks good but has a rumble that will turn heads. In fact, after I took off from the Porsche dealer the other day, the guys there later told me that they couldn't believe that a BMW had that much meat. Made the chili pepper sound pretty weak. LOL.

Anyway, I picked up the new ride a few weeks ago, which the bassy X5 now gets to tow. Thought I'd share.

When I get the X5 properly detailed, I'll get pics of the car. It really does look hot, especially with the 4 not-so-subtle tips

BTW, I had a very, very light tint added to the windshield to cut down on heat, and front window to match the factory tint. Awesome stuff.

Are the SS exhausts popular? Man, I gotta tell ya, every time I start the X5 I get an evil grin. I consider it just this ----> side of antisocial, especially around my old school conservative neighborhood. Puts me a very, very good mood.

if u want even more rumble, remove the resonators all together or remove the resonators and add the magnaflow x-pipe.

Welcome. a 4.6 or 4.8 will make an excellent addition to your garage. Either one will be the best SUV you ever own! Good luck
