Nav DVD
car and open the left rear access to the DVD area. Without the key in place, the DVD is on as indicated by the red light and I assume running. Is this the usual? Battery drain?

That is normal. MK4 drive I assume. The drive will continue spinning for a few minutes after you turn off the ignition. The nav drive will also spin up when you unlock the car or open a door.
