Wiper problem, wipers stop about 1/4 up the windscreen

Well sometimes when i use the wipers and then i go to turn them of, instead of the wipers going back to the stopped position they go past the stop position and come back up about 1/4 of the way up the windscreen.

Its very annoying

Any ideas why?

Same problem

I have exactly the same problem on my 2005 x5. Is there anything I can do to sort this?

Check the nut on the linkage.

Did anyone find the solution for this? This started today on mine also, it wipes the whole window but parks 1/4 up on the window....

I had the same problem a few years ago. The fix for mine was to replace the wiper relay. If memory server me correctly it was only $20. It has been working fine ever since
