Nav/Voice Question

Hello all,

I have an 05 X5 4.4 with the voice commands for the phone and of course the voice button on the steering wheel. I noticed that with my friends M5 you could say things like "Scale 400 feet" and the navigation system would obey.

This is not possible on mine. Is there any way to make this work, maybe a jumper or something to enable this?

Thanks in advance.

When you press and hold the voice button on the steering wheel, do you hear a beep? If not, then you may not have the SES voice module in your X.

BTW, I am in Seattle as well, I think I met your friend at a Seattle 7 event.

I also have an extra SES unit for sale if you needed.

Yes I do get the beep and I can talk to my car and give it phone commands, but not nav commands.

Describe my friend... ???

You may only have voice command bulit in from your phone, not Nav, may need to add the SES unit to get voice for Nav.

If you say Route map, or Gas station as location, what do you get?

I recall the friend has a M5 with lots of mods, and he has a factory in MA, only met him once.

Function is currently not availble, or something like that.

And yes, that is him, really nice guy known him for 9 years now. Got me into computers that allowed me to buy all my toys and my BMWs. What is your name? I see him tomorrow to install my 20 inch style 177s I will tell him that you said hi.

If you press the voice button you can say "help". If it says help is availible for phone, navigation and notepad then you have the module.
