I have that issue in Sport Mode, but not manual mode.

I drove all day today in manual mode and it so much more enjoyable to drive without the transmission shifting every darn second in Automatic mode..shift, shift, shift, down shift, shift, shift.

BMW should fix this problem. The X5 should shift in a normal straight forward fashion like my wife's 2000 BMW 540i wagon.

The X5 does have a drivablility issue with this transmission. They need to get the software right. I am willing to pay for the Dinan chip this summer, if it fixes the problem. Then I'm going to send the bill to BMW corp. in New Jersey!

dinan had a promo last summer for 50% off all software. it's def worth it at half price

re, the engine braking, you need to watch the revs and bring them up if neccessary. agree its not as easy to "heel toe" an automatic though.

Did Dinan ever come out with the Tranny software? Anyone have it? If so, did it improve the shifting issues....holding to high of gear causing engine bogging?

Thanks,
Mike
