Model: 3.0D Sport 6sp Auto
Year: 2005 Engine Size: 2993/218bhp Cost Per Tank: £83-00 depending upon fuel cost Updated for 2008: £110 - diesel fuel is now £1.20/litre Miles Miles Per Tank: 530 - 630 Current Mileage: 25,300 Type of Driving: Various - long runs on motorway 100+ miles, plus local stuff. I'm a reasonably gentle driver but 'use' it when I can. Typical MPG averaged over 3,000 mile intervals is 30 (+/- 1mpg). Did get 37mpg once going to Manchester (170 miles all dual carriageway/motorway). This is Imperial Gallons, not US Gals. First Service was at 21k (18 months). Currently got one green flag just gone out at 25k. For comparison purposes our 2005 E46 330Cd (2993/204bhp) 6sp Manual M Sport Convertible gets about 45mpg on motorway, 35mpg around town. First service at 18K. She drives it like she stole it. How she hasn't got points or a fine for speeding I will never know - or maybe I don't want to know!!

Model: X5 3.0i
Year: 2006 Cost Per Tank: $50-$55 Miles Miles Per Tank: 400-450 Current Mileage: 35201 Type of Driving: 50% Highway, 50% Local Highway average: 21.5MPG Local Average: 19.0MPG The most miles I ever got on one tank was 481. On another occasion I had to put in 26 gallons to fill it up. Interestingly, now that it is winter here in New England, my mileage has been lower by about 1 mile per gallon. The same thing happened when I owned a 2003 X5 3.0. Must be the winter gasoline formulations, extra engine warm time, etc. |

3.0d Sport
Model: X5 3.0d Sport Manual
Year: 2005 Engine Size: 3 litre Cost Per Tank: £85 Miles Per Tank: 600-630 (best 670, worst 510) Current Mileage: 24,600 Type of Driving: Average journey ~ 80 miles Average mpg so far: 32.4 UK (Measured since purchase - I know costs to the last penny) = 27mpg US, 9.55l/100km First service came in at 24,000 but I changed oil myself at 14,000. It was too mad to see only 2 greens dropped at 14k. Only problem with this car is one of the rear interior lights, near floor level, wasn't connected when I got it. I fixed that myself and conveyed to the dealer that I felt BMW are slipping up with production quality :-) Will keep this for 200,000 miles (I miss my E39 525TDS for sentimental reasons, it went after 200k). |
