Might be my last weekend with my X5...

I have less than a day left on my X5's eBay sale. Just in case it does end up selling tomorrow, I wanted to say thank you to all of you that helped with all my questions over the last few months. Soooo, thank you all!!!

I haven't gotten anything yet, I'm looking at a 2004 M3 or a 2003 330Ci. The 330Ci would be fun just to play around with, but an M3 is well, an M3. So we'll see...

Hey a little off topic but how much did you pay to powdercoat your wheels, also is the color black or a glossy black, the reason I ask is I want to get my 19's powdercoated and just want to see what I'll be looking at as far as $$$$

A good powdercoat shop will charge somewhere around 60-80$ per wheel.
If your OEM wheels are already powdercoated you should factor another 30-40$ per
wheel to strip the powdercoating . Also make sure they at least offer you to clear coat
the wheels after powdercoating as this will make the surface last much longer.

I've had my "winter" wheels for the E53 and E90 powdercoated and both turned out great, see http://www.janixworld.com/x5/Wheels/ for the X5 .

Hth,

- Jan

MatzoballsX5 - I see from your eBay auction that you have Colorado plates. Be careful with your transaction. There may be some costs that you are not aware of when the buyer goes to register the vehicle in California. If you moved to California, you're were obligated to register the X5 with Cali plates once you got a job or enrolled in school. If a long length of time has elapsed since the time you started working or going to school, there might be a late fee for not having registered your truck.

One of my colleagues at work transferred in from another part of the country. He drove his car (registered in Georgia) for nearly half a year in Cali before going to the DMV. He paid $800 for his registration for a 3 year old Mercedes which probably should have been around $400 had he paid on time.

Check out the DMV website. Make sure you cover these details with your buyer so there's no surprises.

asawadude - I just recently found out about the whole registration bullsh*t. I wish I would have known ahead of time to be honest. I won't be receiving any other costs regardless of where my car sells to because of the person I'm going through. A family friend owns an exotic car dealership in Denver and they will be helping me along the way with the small details. Thank you for the heads up though, I'll be registering my new car in Cali as soon as I end up getting one.

Dr. Jay - My rims were $75 a rim to powdercoat and they are the glossy black. I was also given a lifetime warranty on chips and other problems. So far, I really haven't had any chips or deterioration, my biggest problem is keeping them shiny, just like any other rim.

X54.4blue - My reserve is set at $38,000. I figured if I can't get the money I want for the X5, then there's no reason for me to sell it. So if it doesn't sell, then it doesn't sell. this was basically a way for me to have a win-win situation. If I sold the X5 and got a new car, that was a perfectly acceptable situation for me. However, if the X5 didn't sell, then I get to keep one of the best machines ever made. I couldn't go wrong!

DriverX5 - I didn't put the resonator back on for the sale. At the bottom of the listing I said I still had all the parts. So whoever is looking to buy this X5 would be able to put the resonator back on if they wanted to.

Four hours left...Here comes the exciting part. I think I'm in the midst of changing my mind on a future car though, I found a great 540i that's a manual V8 and it's red. Anyone have an opinion on those?
