I wouldn't chance it - unless you can get it to a dealer and get a diagnosis and histroy. It's possible that the well documented gremlins as discussed have been taken care of and once the gear shift is fixed, you'll be fine. However, that's one heck of a way to start your new journey with your ride. Seven years old, your dealer already telling you anything else is on your dime, current known problems, unknown history, potential unknown additional problems... If you keep it, be prepared to pay.

Well I got the car back to the dealer and got mine back!

Warning if you live in seattle do not buy from Luxury Cars northwest. They turned into complete A holes when the car was comming back to them.

Good job on the swap...

I'm always skeptical when a corner car
lot calls themselves "Luxury", lol!

Not trying to sell you one, but you are on the
X Board...

I'd go kick some tars and drive some:
say '02 or '03, up. Try a sport suspension
model, too. It is hard to get away from
the driving/handling capabilities of these
cars, if you are in mkt for this kind of suv-like car.

Nothing comes close, imo.

You can still buy a pretty reliable 2000 or 2001 model for a reasonable price with a good extended warranty as long as it has been properly maintained. Ask for maintenance history. It is true that earlier models had their share of problems but with a well maintained car most if not all of these problems should have been fixed by now. I would strongly suggest to get a proper extended warranty with these cars though because even a small issue could mean big bills.
