I painted mine black and mounted it directly under the rain sensor. The mirror hid it from the inside, and black it is not noticable on the outside.
BTW: When I had to turn mine in because of a dead battery, NJ charged me $25 for modifying it. Small price to pay.

In NY/NJ/PA you're not supposed to move them between cars. I've actually gotten a fine in the mail for using the tag registered to my x5 in my vette. It's also "illegal" to not have them mounted (i.e. holding them up when you hit the toll both), you wind up with another potential fine.
Considering that they're "free" I have 1 in each car, mounted in a suction cup holder behind the rear view.
