I am 35. I am really working hard to keep my X. In Hong Kong, everything is so expensive, the gas is almost HK$13/L (US$1.67/L), and car park rental, and registration fee, etc... Unfortunately, my parents are not rich at all, unlike some guys here who get BMWs just like eating a cake given by their parents. Damn, it is so hard to earn a BMW in HK and even more harder to keep owning a BMW in HK.

Hey guys, is it legal to drive before 18 in USA? I saw lots of guys here said they had their BMW before 18, is it true? I had my first BMW when I was 25, it was a used 525i made in 1991, since then, I have been falling love with BMW. I bought my x one year ago, really a fantastic car, better than any other SUVs.

Just turned 38.

You do not seem to see many young people (17-25yrs) driving X5's in Australia unless funded in some way ie Family Business, Parent/s etc.

The other reason is that you will be hard pressed to find a decent used X5 for under AU$60,000 that is less that 5 years old.
A 2004 4.6is with 50,000klm is still fetching around AU$115-125,000.
I would also suggest the annual insurance costs would be something excessive for a young person in Australia.

On another note....For all the young guys in this forum that have an X5, congratulations and good luck to you......I wonder what sort of vehicle you lucky guys be driving in 10 years from now???

depending on each individual state (maybe), you can legally start driving at 15 1/2 years old with a provisional license (permit) upon passing the written test. there is a six month period of driving with a permit with a accompaniment of an adult 25 or older with a valid license. after the six month probabtional period, you are allowed to get a license at the age of 16 with the passing of the driving test. but before you are eighteen, your driving privileges are limited to driving between 6am and 11pm, and no transportation of minors without an adult 25 or older with a valid license for six months.

They just changed the law in Nevada that you have to be 16 to get a license. Before you could be 15 3/4.
