Ipod

I have the Alpine unit and never use it. It is a pain in the ass to load CDs into and I need more than 6 albums to roll to... the Ipod is such a better way to cart your music collection around.

I STRONGLY recommend that you reconsider.

Ipod Install 04 X5 4.4 Prem w/DSP

Any suggestions on the best way to install the Ipod. I have read many varations on the install. The one hidden next to the lighter was pretty cool! Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

It's a beta unit, so there are sometimes glitches like when you search a folder it takes a bit longer, sometimes it's faster...as for playing songs, it works like a charm. Now at least I get the full album/song/performer info on my screen.

I read some articles at this site and think I figured out almost everything I need, but want to double check before proceed.

What I am going to do is just to follow the instructions in the article "Mounting CD Changer", and I think what I need is as follow.

E53 vehicles without Navigation use hardware kit: P/N 82 11 0 009 302

OTY P/N Item
1 99 00 0 001 796 Install Instructions
2 65 12 8 385 988 Bracket CD Changer
8 07 11 9 902 007 MSxl4 Hex Head Bolt
8 61 13 1 372 033 Body Nut MS
1 65 12 8 383 514 Carrier Bracket Front
1 65 12 8 383 515 Carrier Bracket Back
2 07 11 9 915 041 M6xlO Hex Head Bolt

Alpine CHA-S634 MP3 Changer
Alpine KCA 130B Cable
Soundgate Alpine to BMW for non-DSP

1. Are these everything I need?

2. After installation, does BMW biz CD automatically detect and recognize CD changer or do I have to program something with biz CD?

Thanks.

Brian
Hello,

i seem to have problems with the above installation. I have done everything ( i suppose ) right, and when i change my NAVI to CD-Changer option, it seems as it recognizes that there is a changer installed, tries to read from cd 1 and sticks to that not being able to read or play anything.

Any thoughts on that?

Friendly
John

John - What year is your X5? Do you have DSP?

How long did you wait for it to play?

I'm asking because once you insert a CD magazine in the unit, it cycles through all 6 disk slots to see which ones are full or empty. Then, once the cycle is complete, it takes longer to start an MP3 CD than it does to play an Audio CD. If you haven't already, put an audio CD in slot 1 and see if that makes a difference.

One other thing to check for is a small switch just inside the door of the CD Changer. It should be in position 2 for "MBus". I'm not sure how they ship.

I have an '05 X5 w/NAV & DSP. I had the same changer and Soundgate adapter, but recently became a beta tester for the Intravee II mentioned above. The Intravee is an awesome device and only getting better, but no word on when it will be available for purchase.

Good luck.

Need help getting Alpine CHA-S634 to work

Need help getting the CD changer to work. First I must admit I'm a novice at installing. I've a 2005 X5 with Nav/No DSP.

I've purchased
1. Alpine CHA-S634
2. Alpine KCA-130B
3. Peripheral BMWALPX 1996-2003 BMW to Alpine Changer

Connected CHA-S634 to KCA-130B; KCA-130B to Peripheral BMWALPX 1996-2003; BMWALPX to 3-pin/6-pin in the trunk. Tried the Bus selector switch in both Ai-Net System and Mini-BUS system modes.

When I switch the mode on the radio it recogizes the CD player but nothing plays.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

It might be the adapter that's causing the problem. I ran into the same situation with another adapter (can't remember the brand) with everything seeming to work fine except for no sound! I replaced it with the SoundGate adapter and everything worked perfectly!
