X5 angel eyes kit

Hi,

Anybody had experience with bavarian_motorwerks on ebay? They have several angel eyes kits for different model and their X5 kit looks very nice. I would say it's by far the best looking kit for X5.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=7981100062

I've seen some pictures posted by other board members. Most kits use smaller rings on high beam which makes it look weird. Their rings look much better and the white color is what I want. The round rings on low beam are attractive too.

Anyone has purchased that kit from them before? How's the fitment? Is the installation hard?

They also have some front grilles and chrome gauge rings. I might be interested getting a deal from them for all these items if they have nice quality. Please share your experience with them. Thanks!

I looked that their AE configuation and it looks to me like the rings are the same size for both the low beam and the high beam. The only difference is the low beam is an an "O" shape and the high beam is in a "U" shape.

I have no experience with them so I can't give you any feedback, good or bad.

Dave,

Just check out your website. Wanna get clear about your pricing. You charge $900 for angel eyes kit installed on my existing headlights? What's the size of high beam rings in your kit? I love the bigger look rings on high beam side just like the bavarian_motorwerks kit because it matches better. Does your work come with warranty? I don't expect to spend another couple hundred bucks if any of the angel eyes rings fails.

What's your special price? I think $900 installed is still a bit steep to me. If it's a DIYable project, I might just get the ebay kit and do it on my own to save some $$.

Yes, the facelifted headlights can be made to work. But you also have to replace the fenders, front bumper, and hood. Several have done this after being involved in minor front end collisions.

I have done this. I can tell it took a lot more than I expected. "lot more" does not even describe correctly what it really took me. (two sets of broken housings, cracked reflectors, buying tons of various types of sealants, mount brackets, instruments, I even burned one 2003 headlight in oven, trying to open it) But most it took was my time - over one week including entire!!! memorial day weekend, that was the biggest sacrifice - time!

I was trying to post some pics but the size was to large. Here is one I managed to upload, others are too large. I just got this Canon SD500 camera and still to figure out how to use it right way.

I'd be very interested in seeing your pics. Try using the program from http://irfanview.com to resize the pics to 640x480 first.

nordX5, I like your AE most among what I have seen so far. I see that you took Tim 's de-amber approach, too. Do you sale your work on AE?

Yes, I wanted to make a post with all my pics and to thank Joll for his instructions and Tim for the idea. I did an extra work on de-amberizing: moved the lense slightly outside to eliminate the gap between turn signal reflector edge and clear lense.
I can probably do it for someone who really wants to have this retrofit on X5. But the parts must be supplied.
I will post more info later on this mod.
