76,000 isn't really "the end." i was just trying to point out that 76,000 is a lot of miles, and with the transmission problem and whatnot, you want to enjoy your investment.

other than that, the X5 will last you a very long time. don't know anybody who has hit 200,000 yet, but i'm sure it will still run like butter

What does it say if we are so eager to move on once the warranty expires, recycling older craftsmanship for the newest gizmo model year (bluetooth still works with the old setup). Sorry, that's not me. Everybody knows the RX 300/330 and MDX are "more reliable," but I don't want to drive a glorified station-wagon sittin on 18'' rims. That's my .02 for what it's worth. I am sorry if it sounded that way. X5's are very reliable and great cars. Quite a few members are way above the 100k miles range, and the car performs as if brand new.

I am not sure what I am doing about my car yet. I will decide after I choose a school to go to. I might consider a 6-speed gti if I go to San Francisco.

I was surprised, I saw quite a few people with sticks when I was in San Francisco.

actually there are many people with sticks in sf, it's just that they avoid the steep hills

The hills are so fun to drive down. We had a Chrysler 300 rental car, you could feel the brakes stress everytime we went down the hills. It was great.
