My 4/50 will be up next month as well. How do I get the dealer to check the CV boots? Do I have to look at it myself to see if it's worn? Or, what kind of signs of cv boot failure are there?

Is there anything else that is common that I should ask to have done/checked out before my warranty is up?

Thanks.

Generally you will see a grease leak if the CV is going.

Mine is also the drivers side. The boot is available on ebay for around $25 and mechanic would take another $200 for replacement. Still a lot cheaper than stealer's estimate of $500.

I just found out I have both CV boots on my front axle torn. Would this be something I could get covered under the CPO warranty on my 2002?

Yes, you are covered under your CPO warranty. But as mentioned before you may have to tell them that it's your axle that needs to be replaced and then they might replace the whole thing.
