Add auto-light-on function to my X?

Hi all experts! Just thinking of adding auto-light-on function to my x. Is it possible to do it? Is it possible to do it by DIY? If possible, what parts do I need to do it? Currently I have the light switch (part number:61316909776) in hand, I also searched in realoem.com and found the rain and light sensor (part number: 61356923954). Do I need any other parts? Do I need to re-code or even replace the light and check control module? Really need all of you experts to give me advice on this. Thanks a lot!

roger...what are you doing to your x? soooo many mods

it's not advantageous to add the light module. it involves changing the windshield, and a bunch of other stuff that were mentioned somewhere on this board.

there was a discussion about a generic light sensor. i forget who talked about it though. but it was sort of recent...

Yea, it was me. I mentioned that a retro fit Ford "Auto Lights' comes complete with everything to allow it to work "out of the box". It only costs around $75 complete.
But it would have to be cut into the X5 wiring to get it working. I would advise using Scotch "T" Taps so it could be removed easily.

Thanks Paul! I will contact you later for the resistor. Regarding the Ford auto lights, can you tell me where I can buy it online? Is it hard to install/modify to make it fit in my car? Thanks!
