Deactivation of CODE

I hope someone can help. I just got my X5 a day ago and I was going over the different functions the car has. I got to the "CODE" function where you can set up a code for the car to start. I created a code and now the car will not start. The starter just clicks and the head lights comes on.

I followed the instruction in the manual on how to do the emergency deactivation procudure and the car still will not start. The procedure is disconnected the batter terminal waited 5 minutes, connected the battery terminal again. Turn the key to the 1 position in the ignition, a 10 minute count down should start on the display. I did not see the count down on the screen. Has anyone experience this?

JPOOX5,
If the battery was dead , would the interior lights and the dashboard lights still come on?
