Service Rant

So after waiting 3 weeks for my appointment finally got my car in today. Thought I had a flat tire last night, while checking around found a severely torn CV boot. Thanks X5world for teaching me about this! If I hadnt looked then it most likely would have gone through today without anyone noticing. Yikes. So getting new axle (?) put on because of that. Its under warrenty so whatever.

Also got my breaks checked. Sure enough, new pads/rotors/fluid flush. I guess at 50K miles it was time.

Lastly, got my side blinker fixed. As suspected it was the socket that was messed up. Tack on that to the bill.

So in one day, I total $1,000 for this. Wow welcome to real BMW ownership. At least its going to work well now! ....or so I hope.

And lastly. This whole "loaner car" crap pisses me off. I drop off a nice X5 and leave with a really barebones Cobalt that smells like sweaty fat people. I had to call them back to figure out how to lock the doors. Turns out you just push the actual lock for each door? Strange..... The lady's response was, "We'll that makes you appreciate your BMW that much more when you get it back." I was at a loss for words.

Haha that lady was funny... Sorry about going through that. Just saying, I never get a loaner car: I don't want some stupid person to hit me and then having to go through all the work...

I had two torn CV boots, ended up leaking over my front rotors. I had to get the rotors replaced, the pads were grinding when I stopped. Good thing you caught yours.

I wont lie. The margarita at lunch has helped.

Oh yeah this is great. The SA basically told me that I am on my own for fixing the tailgate rattle. At least he drew me a diagram of what wrench to buy.

No need to buy a special wrench or tool to fix the rattle. I just went to Home Depot and purchased a package of felt chair bumpers that go on the bottom of chairs so that they dont scratch the floors. I placed one on each rubber bumper on the back and you cant even tell that they are there. No more rattle. Pretty cheap too $1.65.
