Help Required

HI All, I am new to this site as only recently bought myself a 2002 X5 Sport 3.0 Diesel, and must say I love it all ready, however there are a couple of niggles I have found and wondered if anyone may be able to help.

1) The SAT NAV display does not recognise that there are discs in the cd changer, I just get the error "No Discs" when I try and switch mode to the cd player, now, I know there is power to the unit because the cassette is ejectable, Notsure if there is a link but my battery was run flat by the the ignition being on while my daughter cleaned it out for me

2) Wing Mirror's
a) The electric fold in does not work properly, in that both mirrors fold in but then fold out again straight away ??
b) Is there anywhere in the UK or online I can buy a replacement passanger side wing mirror assembly, mine is damaged (but not the cause of the above problem, so BMW tell me anyway) BMW dealer talking in the region of £600

If anyone can help with any of my queries I would love to hear from you.

Many Thanks Martin

Hi Martin, Welcome to X5World. I'm not sure if I can be of much help but here goes;

1. Did the NAV work before the battery was drained? If so, an electrical interface of software is suspect. Possibly power down the system via the fuse for a reset. This may be an obvious question, but are you putting a DVD into a CD NAV system?

2. Sounds like a crossed wire or software glitch somewhere, the mirror may be getting a constant "open" signal Regrettably, this would be hard to troubleshoot unless you had the mirror schematics. Try a power reset by removing and reinserting the mirror fuse. Seems a shame to replace a whole mirror for one false signal. Try ebay or a BMW scrap yard for a replacement.

Do a search for NAV failure and folding mirrors for discussions of similar failures

Good luck

You may go to eBay German site to get a wing mirror replacement. I see some auctions there.

Thanks Gents,
I have overcome the CD problem there are 2 cables connected to the rear of the cd player if I disconnect both then reconnect the power cable the cd's register, so I just let it finnish all six and then reconnected the DATA ? cable, the cd's play fine so that was a win.

Haven't tried resetting the fuse as yet, slight problem in that I haven't been able to locate the right fuse yet, I will keep plugging away though.

Marty
