tetonguy is on a distinguished road
Its an omni directional transponder like a small fish finder sonar. it sends out a pulse in a half dome like shape basically in the direction which the tang of the key is pointed. If you wear a large ring or other jewelry (read bling) and cover the key it will greatly reduce its range as will a weak battery. Just my 3 pennies.....allowing for inflation....
