Exclamation weak axles of X5

Guys, yesterday I've heard some gossips/opinions from local mechanics, that our Xs has weak axles and whole suspension at all. So my question is it true ? How often do you make repair for suspension ?

My mechanic friend (after fixing toytas and hondas for 10 years) was amazed by X5 suspension. He said that Jap’s suspension is made of foil paper compare to X5. So maybe your mechanic comparing it to Land Rover Paris-Dakar or something like that…

have your mechanic friend qualify his statement... the x5 is a 5000 lb vehicle and it takes quite a strong suspension to hold that up, especially under speed.

as for the axles, i have yet to hear of one break on an x5...

Well, compared to a Peterbilt, yea, I guess you could say the X5 suspension is weak.

But compared to similar types of vehicles in a similar weight class, the X5 suspension is pretty damn stout.

I'd find a new mechanic!!

I was pretty sure that I did a good choice. But if we compare X5 suspension with Lexus RX/GX class ? Stronger I believe....

negative. from an engineering perspective, the lexus/toyota spec, design, range of travel, deflection, construction material, weight, and load specs.. they are inferior to the x5's suspension.

If I remember correctly the current models of Landrover share the X5 suspension design as it orginated during the term of BMW ownership.

There is no way an X5 has a weak suspension. Take a look at a Toyota Highlander or Honda CR-V, then tell is if you still think the X5 has a "weak" suspension.

My mechanic friend is very much aware that X5 is 5000 lb vehicle …. and that there are Honda and Toyota SUVs which have the similar weight! Have you qualify his statement?
