Question Faults in my 2002 X5

I have just taken delivery of my 2002 my 4.4L X5 (metallic black, privacy glass front passenger/ driver, satnav -tv, rain sens windscreen, auto-dip int mirror)

i have found the following faults and wondered if they were common

when i select reverse, only the passenger side mirror dips down ( sometimes it swivels up and down continually) should the driver mirror dip too?

is the rain sensitive wipers meant to wipe continually in heavy rain- they only swipe intermittently no matter how hard it rains.

the parking sensors had sounded the malfunction beeeeep and the green light flashes. this has happened the first 3 times i reversed, but it does not seemed to have happened since

are the mirrors meant to fold really flat ( parrallel to the side windscreens) or is it normal for them to sit at about a 20% angle?

i suppose i make it sound like its on the scrap heap ! but i am dleighted with it . i had a tired 520i before and i think they are underpowered. it didnt have the satnav / tv function which is a major improvement

lastly, the indictors are edged in yellow. they are not completely solid yellow like the 2000 model ( i should have taken a photo but its pouring outside !) , but the new model indicators are completely clear. anyone know of a good CHEAP supplier in UK who would supply clear headlight covers ( or is it possible to get covers only? my dealer wanted £200 EACH to replace the whole headlight assembly)

well i think thats all the questions i have !!!

only the passenger side mirror is supposed to dip down when in reverse.

You can control the speed of your rain sensitive wipers using that scroll lever. Top is faster.

PDC blinks when the parking sensors are dirty. Happens to mine all the time.

my mirrors dont fold so I cant answer you on that one. I got a 2001 :-P

1) Only the passenger side mirror will dip in reverse and it will only do so if the mirror select switch is set to the driver mirror position. Sliding the mirror select switch over to the passenger side will disable the dip function.

2) The rain sensitive wipers should wipe faster as the rain intensity increases.

3) The mirrors won't fold flat. The 20 degree angle sounds about right.

1. It's possible to get both mirrors to dip but you need to have a glitch in the software (as I did) that the dealer removes!
2. RS wipers should access the full range of wiper speeds depending on how heavy its raining. If it is not doing this then you have a problem only a stealer can fix.

no where unless you buy new or used lights. some people just pull them out, and some just cut the orange out, and glue the clear part back in.

Rain sensitive wipers have to be in position 1 to work. Any position higher then that, then they are in manual mode.

When they are in position 1 (one click up from neutral stalk position), you adjust how sensitive you want the wipers to be with the scroll wheel on the stalk...
