4.6 cluster look.
...After reading around, people have done it with consequences. Some problems i've read about are.. - actual speed differs from cluster reading - oil pressure doesn't work - oil pressure works but reads as consumption meter - empty light stays on, although it does read the amount of gas correctly - brake light on - parking brake light on among others. So then I found this, http://bimmian.ca/product.htm?veh=46&item=GFA&ref=1 They basically took a regular 3 series cluster and transformed the look into the M3, with even the redlines lighing up to emulate it that much better. I have found a company and am in talks with them about development. So then, how many of us would actually think about purchasing this product? I'll post later on how many minimum I need to start development.

it will be hard to find 30 people who all need the same cluster. i.e. back in 2002 the 4.4 redlined at 5800 rpm, and I think it got changed to 6000 (or 6500?) in 2004. I am pretty sure the redlines in the 3.0 are different depending on what year your x is too.

say your x redlines at 5800 rpm, and you are using manaul mode you will have no visible indication or "red line" to know when to shift, I imagine that would be tricky with the lag from the autostick.

I hear ya, definitely a good find and a point to be mentioned -- I think it might be an issue if the redlines were significantly different or maybe in a different car, but I doubt people are revving up to the redline on a regular basis in an X5 (not the best choice for a drag race) and if people are regularly beating on their X like that I don't think a 200 rpm difference would be hard to keep track of. After all even with the autoshift, the computer doesn't let you blow through the redline -- not to mention the shifts are far from instantaneous so timing a 5800 shift versus a 6000 would be pretty tough.

BTW I don't mean to antagonize you -- Just sharing my opinion that the small redline difference is negligible in my case and worth the improved looks -- I'm sure there are plenty of people who would not make the sacrifice and plenty that would
