Final Stage Resistor?
I have a 2000 X5 4.4i, 73000 miles. I get the battery warning signal on the display - But only when the fan or AC is on. When the fan or AC is off, the battery display goes away. I checked using the Peake Tool and I got: 1A = Control Unit Supply A4 = EVAP Barometric tank pressure sensor Any clues? Is it the final stage resistor? A few days ago, I noticed that "smoky" air was coming out of the front central vents when the AC was on. Is this related? The battery is about 4 years old - the second on my X5. Please, any help will be appreciated. |

Get the charging system checked at an Advanced Auto or Autozone. It's free. they'll also check the battery. The light means that voltage is low. Then check for the codes after everything is OK in the charging circuit. BTW: If you need an alternator one member found O'Reilly Auto Parts to be the cheapest for a reman. unit..
Smokey air. Don't like the sound of that. Any smell such as anti-freeze? (i.e. Leaking heater core?)
