powers1 is on a distinguished road
Since no one has given any more feedback on this subject,I have made a decision and ordered from BMW the oem 4.8is rear silencers to fit on my 3.0 Diesel. As can be seen from the pics the silencers are completely different!I have chosen the 4.8is silencers as these are more cost effective(I got mine with 20% trade discount for 685 euros(822 usd) so I think I got a good deal!
I decided to do this on a "blind" basis ,since I have no info on the "insides" of the 4.8is silencers!Does anyone know if the 4.8 has restrictive or absorption silencers.Does anyone know what the inside of this silencer looks like? Are there any bends to restrict the gases(restrictive type) or is it just straight through(absorption type)?Looking at the pict of the 4.8 silencer next to the 4.4,it looks bigger! But the guy who fitted on his 4.4 didnt report any fitting problems,so it should also be ok to fit on mine!
Since I have facilities to tig weld in stainless,I am prepared to open up a silencer to see the inside piping, but I was hoping someone out there would let me know!Anyone????REALLY APPRECIATE ANY INFO FROM THE 4.6/4.8 GUYS.........Many thanks
I am about to find out why the magnet stuck to the tips of the 4.8 silencers !!!!!!(magnet doesnt stick to stainless!!)
