Thanks for the info. I need to take a closer look at your pics of how you transformed your diesel exhaust system to show the tips without any power loss. I am worried that the bending of the pipes in order for the tips to come out at the hole locations might affect the power of the X5 .

Sorry blueagle we must have our wires crossed. I have replaced the rear end exhaust silencers with a X5 4.4 V8 pair. There is no practical way of putting any sort of tip on a X5 diesel silencer other than fake tips welded onto the silencer wall and that would look crap.

Did you get those tips from this ebay seller?...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-E...spagenameZWDVW These tips on ebay and the ones you had installed are smaller (from what I see in your pics) than the OEM 4.6is tips, but they do simulate the look good enough. Either way, your X does look better. Good job, pare!

These are locally fabricated tips. They patterned it from the original AC SCHNITZER tips. OEM's are more oval than mine .
Sound is more aggressive than the stock exhaust . I noticed a slight gain in power. TOTAL COST : USD450.00 ( parts and labor/installation) |
