mirrors won't stay in when folded

Does anybody know whats required to fix this. I had the x in for a service today and the dealer said they need more time to find the fault. More time= more money
I posted before and was informed it's a common problem. Must not be common in Ireland or the dealer never came across it before
Thanks,
Mark

One of the mirror motors is bad or encountered glitches. When one side folds and the other doesn't, both unfold. Do you notice any horrible screeching sound when you fold the mirrors?

I had this glitch, too. The problem was rectified when the dealer installed new mirrors, nine months ago. No problems since. (I use my folding mirrors every day.)

My folding mirror gremlin.

I belive the way the mirrors work is that they are linked.
See article retro fixing folding mirrors.

I guess if there is a problem with one mirror it will effect the other one! I guess this is what you are expriencing.
