Hey Guys I am looking for the best All-Season tires for my X5 in a 19" wheels , I have 17" winter wheels and tires but they are very beat up and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a good tire that can also be used in the winter, Thanks in advance

DR.,

Where do yo live? Are the winters bad, if so I recomend the 17s in the winter. Interesting story behind this...

Ok so in seattle last year when we had the crazy snow days, the night it started to snow alot, it started about an hour before rush hour. Making the roads a parkinglot.

In my area there are alot of back roads and opertunitys to avoid traffic. By this time it is around 7 and we have atleast 5-6 inches of soft snow on the ground, and I am going to pick up my father and some of his work peers. I turn the corner and of course drifting sideways in this parkinglot I see a black 4.4 X5 sitting there with its lights on.

Me being the fellow x5 driver go up to the car and ask them if they need any help. The guy is compaining to me about how bad his x5 is in the snow. I tell him I am having no issues dispite my worn toyo proxies...

I tell him I would follow him so he can drive around and show me what he means. There was a huge difference between the 19s and 17s dispite I had some worn toyo proxies. I am pretty sure his tires were at about the same tread life as mine, but they were alot wider, causing him to just slip and slide on top of the snow and not dig in.

I would use the 17's in the snow,

Just my 02 cents...

I am in Pennsylvania, last year the snow was bad, I had my winter tires on which are very worn and it was ok,, the only thing is I hate the look of the. They are TSW 6 spokes but are just beat the shit out of, my stock Michelin 19's have thread showing and I need tires for them so why not just get an all season in the 19's??

I know what you mean, but if snow is real bad there you'll notice a difference with the 17s as oppose to the 19s, obviously depending on tread and tread depth of them.

But yes I agree I would just put the 19s on all year around, but over here the snow isnt so bad, but when it does get bad you can notice the difference.

FWIW, I have 19" snow tires on the y-spoke wheels and work very well and doesn't look bad during winter time.

I have the 19" Y spoke sport rims and the only tires I have found that are M+S rated are the Pirelli Asemetrico's. In previous posts, I stated that I was impressed with their preformance in snow and ice conditions.

all season tires are a lousy compromise. not as good as winter tires in the winter and not as good as summer tires in the summer. i have the michelin alpine sports and have driven up steep hills covered in ice littered with other cars on winter tires that were sideways. get the best for each season.

Yeah I agree. It is best to change tires as the seasons change. But $$$$ is an issue for some people. So, in order to compensate, get the Perelli Asemetrico's Zero's and you will be set all year long. I have them on my X and I love them. I live in Chicago and it snow's pretty good here. I've never had a spin out or lost any control at all. The only thing is that the inner part of the rear tires seem to wear out quicker then the rest. I'm just going to buy 2 new rear as the front are still brand new. I think I will get about 30k on the rear set and then its time for new ones. But then its the X's suspension that is at fault. I have the 01 sport 4.4i.
