Interior Panel HELP

I made the mistake of having someone install an aftermarket XM satellite system and they caused some damage to the car and now I just want to remove the system and don't want to give them a chance to cause further damage trying to jerry rig a cheap repair..... I have a 2002 BMW X5 3.0i

I have three questions:
1. How do you remove the wood trim piece that is to the right of the stereo / in front of the passenger? This is the piece that lines up to the right of the with wood trim covering the CD player.
2. Is there a way to replace the white trim piece that the stereo knob fits down in to? If so where could I locate that white trim piece?
3. How do you remove the panel under the steering wheel that would be where the drivers knee's/shins are? It looks like there are several screws that point up underneath toward the panels around the steering wheel, but when I loosen them it doesn't feel like that panel is released?

Thanks,
J

:xoutpost: Sorry to hear of your troubles.

Removing that wood trim is just a matter of popping it off. (I am assuming you are talking about the triangular piece above the glove box.) It's held in by two pins that simply stick into the dash. Use something like a flat bladed screw driver and carefully pry it up. I used a Snap-On panel removal tool that looks like this.

The trim piece under the volume knob might be tougher to source. Search www.realoem.com for potential part numbers, if they even sell that little white cup separately.

That lower panel might be held in by clips as well as screw so you might have to coax it off with a little force.

Good luck!

I can save you some money on a removal tool. But a plastic putty knife from Home Depot... works wonders!!!

Thanks guys, got the XM removed and found out they never even connected it to the stereo - Unreal!! Guess that explains why I always thought the sound quality sucked.
