Just bought 2000 X5 4.4 HELP adivice

Request the loaner and let them work on your car until is fixed, give them few days so they don't rush, regarding the key...looks like the same problem that I had- key is "dead" and will cost you about $170 if you don't complaint to the dealer. 3 hr. of driving with the key in the ignition is planty of time to recharge the battery... let them replace the key.

having the "shaking" addressed, the key is also something to mention to the dealer - sounds like the battery inside is dead - my 2001 came with one of the keys the same way - evidently one key gets used all the time and the other, not being used & recharged, has the battery inside(non-replacable) go dead - replacement key is not cheap! - get the dealer to replace it since it's CPO.

I will get the tires balanced tomarrow and then I will call the dealer if it is not fixed! good idea guys about the loaner car! these guys are going to be pissed because they had to replace the water pump for me when I bought it! And I noticed that one of my CV boots are leaking a little grease? That should have been done for a safety aswell right?

Not as bad as what my dealer did they swaped over the tires from their other x5 and got it RW then swapped the tires over again so i got the dud tires and had about 10% tread on them. They also have a dark showroom so you cant see any dings on the car when you look at it so when i got it home i noticed a full dent along the side of the car but it had no scratches just this long dent so i got it all fixed and now the coolant tank is leaking so i purchased a new one of those so hopefully that will be all the problems. Ohh yeah i just remembered one of my CV boots was leaking too, i found oil on the front left rims so i had to get that fixed as well. But apart from that its good. The car was owned by an Asian surgeon so it was well looked after. Not a mark on it apart from this dent from a bad driving wife lol.

Shaking steering, water pump needing replacement, worn CV boot, I would think that these would be obvious things that should have been noticed by the dealer prior to certify the car. I would suggest you to get your car inspected by an independent mechanic and then go back to the dealer with the list of things to be fixed.

They were upset because I hagled the price really well! They asked 22900 and offered them 20000 cash took about and hour but I said I was walking away! they were good the fix the water pump for me! that was ok but the other items should be fixed! I might have a local mechanic look it over and give me a list of item that should have been fixed for a certifacation!

Just got the X5 back, and the balancing solved the shake in the wheel!!!! but the tie rod boot is torn I will replace that myself it looks very straight forward!! The mechanic said I have a leak in the rack!! but I have not noticed any leaks on the ground or on the undercarriage??? I will monitor my fluid level and go from there!!
