wind noise

Hello,

I own a 2006 E53. Since a while a notice a lot of windnoise around the window at the drivers side. This happens already at a speed of 60-70 km/h. At a speed of 140 it is an awful screaming noise just like some blows a whistle. At the store they already exchanged the mirror base, without any result.

Someone experienced the same?

I noticed the wind noise with my sunroof opened altheway at speed higher than 40 m/h and when I crack a little any of the windows, noise is gone...
do u have windguards on yours, maybe them create some unwanted air stream?

Your window might be off track. take it to the dealer, that should be covered under warranty. The whistling is from the inability of the window to close properly.

I'm not sure if you're saying the sound is coming from the windshield or the passanger side window area. I had a terrible wind noice problem at around 80mph. I replaced my windshield wiper blades with Bosh Icons and have never had the problem since.

Before you run out and drop $$$ on Icons, I would simply remove the stock blades (wrap the arms with a piece of cloth) and go for a test drive. Thats how I figured it out.

Good Luck.

The sound is definitly coming from the drivers side window. Firstly I want to let the dealer find out whether the window is off track. Thanks 4 the advice tough.

Driver side mirror

I have a similar wind issue. I was driving and yelling at my wife about something. A deer tried to hurdle the X5 coming from the drivers side. It took out the L mirror, LF fender, windshield and caved the top of the roof as it went over.

After it came back from the body shop it whistles like crazy. I've been turning up the tunes, but it is annoying when using the phone.

Any ideas?

Ouch that sounds like quite an ordeal. I'm always concerned about hitting foxes and deer, not because I feel for the animals but the damage they can do!

Can you take it back to the bodyshop and tell them it's not been fixed properly? Not the most helpful suggestion but if you can make it someone else's problem...
