I tossed mine out. Can't ever see the need to take the hitch off.

When you refer to the inpact absorbers (there are TWO) and the bumper brace, sounds like we are talking about three pieces here.
After my hitch install, I have FOUR pieces left as extra. 1) Long big heavy metal piece that hugs around and clips onto the INSIDE of the rear bumper with the plastic fastners only. 2) Left inpact absorber 3) Right inpact absorber 4) The metal brace that connects (2) and (3) which is about 3 feet in length So post hitch install, there are these FOUR pieces that are extra and can be tossed? If there is any confusion I can post pics of them. Please confirm. Thanks! |

Yup, they are extra and no longer needed unless you:
-are going to sell the X5 and think you want to pull the hitch off and sell it seperatly to make a few extra bucks. (probably not worth the effort) -are like me and hate throwing usuable car parts away so trip over them for three months before getting around to stash them somewhere . -Find someone who's X5 was rear ended and needs to buy bumper parts. |
