What steps do you specifically have questions about?

the oil filter. Do you take it off first then drain the oil? or drain the oil and then remover filter? Or does it matter what the sequence is?

Whats so different? Unscrew oil filter, unscrew oil cap, get ramps to put X up or just jack it up. Unscrew hex screw to drain oil. Now do it in reverse and just add oil filter back and pour some oil in canaster to keep from dry start. Add oil to engine and your done. Its pretty much that simple...

I have changed the oil on my 2000 4.4. Just followed the DIY. Didn't even need to use ramps or a jack. The only problem I had the first time was when removing the drain plug, the hot oil comes out pretty quick, if you unscrew it very slowly by hand and feel for the last thread you can pull it out without dropping the plug as the hot oil comes out. I don't think it matters what sequence you remove the filter. Just make sure the plug is reinserted before adding oil to the oil filter canister which prevents dry startup. Really pretty easy. I use the aftermarket Mann filter which is a little cheaper.

Thanks guys, I have done tons of oil changes before but never on a BMW. So I wanted to make sure everything went smooth and I didn't miss anything!
