I agree that WD is the way to go. Only the OP can decide/choose
which is better coverage for his own situ and what term/miles to
select. If you are really keeping your car a long time, go with longer
time frame; otherwise cover yourself for the time/miles you realistically
feel you will have it.

I thought that unlike the BMW contract that WD would pro-rate a contract should you need to terminate say when you trade the vehicle.

Just another 2 cents..

If you happen to have AAA, you might have a look at their prices for extended warranty coverage.. My brother just bought a Mazda and the cost of the extended warranty from AAA was significantly less than several others..

Also, and not to start a flame, BUT about 2 years ago I was ready to pull the trigger on a Warranty Direct deal (actually did and got a refund before the 30 days were up), but stopped because a friend sent me a list from the BBB of complaints lodged against WD.

Now that was a few years ago, and I'm sure things could have changed, but the clincher was that my local BMW dealer would not accept their rates/fees, and I would have to pay the difference.

Again, I did not go any further and completely respect any one else who has enjoyed success, but wanted to share at least one other observation. I guess if your local dealer is willing to accept their plan, that would be a pretty good confirmation.

Good Luck whatever you choose !

ED,

im from jersey too, so which dealer are we talking about here? i mean your local dealer? because when i spoke with George from WD, i asked him specifically about 2 dealers where i normally go, Park avenue and JMK, and told me they worked with those dealers before and had no issues.. i just got my warranty and maybe if there really is a problem, maybe i can pull out of it... Thanks ....

Jay:
I was referring to Open Road in Edison. George was the SA at the time, and he's gone. Maybe he gave me bad info.. I'd forgotten about the topic until yesterday..

Again, I was only giving my experience. I have no grudge at WD (or any other firm)..Hey they refunded my money so we're even.

I do recall (and just tried to find - unsuccessfully) a collection of complaints assembled on a web site. Conversely, the BBB shows only 4 complaints which sounds pretty darn good http://www.bbbnewyork.org/reports/bu...&pid=44&page=1

Hope that clarifies my point

Just the information i was looking for. I have been looking for an extended warranty and have pinpointed WD. The quote i received was $5200 for xtracare for 37 months/37,ooo miles or an odometer reading of 93,364. I currently have about 56k miles on my 01. i noticed that location plays a role determining a quote. If I was in NY instead of HI the quote would have been $400 more. Just thought I'd share this. So besides the price changed based on location is the quote reasonable?

I would put the $5200 in a savings account and pay for services as needed. This way, I can also replace preventative maintenance items as I see fit, rather than having to wait for something to break before I can make a claim.
