Angel Eye NIGHTMARE

Okay, I have an 02 X5 4.4 with factory HID's. I have opened my headlights before to remove the ugly waffle things.
I finally got my angel eye rings in, that I ordered on ebay, so I re-opened my headlights and could not figure out a way to get the damn rings to stick. The instructions on this website show you how to stick them to the waffle circle's but I took those out. I am pretty handy and could not figure anything out. So how the heck do I clip these Angel Eye rings? After the headlights were open I tried and tried for 3 hours. I tried fabricating a solution super glueing plastic etc. NOTHING. Now I have glue runs and stains on the black plastic housing and I wanted to throw them out the effin window. I look on Ebay but all the headlights with angel eyes listed say they'll only work on the NON-HID models. Does anyone have a solution. I'm not going to put them waffle things back on. I'm so pissed. I really want to do insurance fraud to get out of this payment and get an '04. If someone can send me a link or something. I'm not going to attempt it again. Acutally I'm pretty convinced there is not way to attached Angel Eye rings once removing those ugly waffle things. How about a company that does them? If someone can give me an Angel Eye solution with HID's for under $800 I'll buy them on the spot. PLEASE, I'm so pissed right now. I would prefer to buy new aftermarket ones or something becuase of the super glue that ran down, but I will settle with anything. I waited and waited for these rings to come in and now I have nothing.. Thanks guys, sorry that this was so long.

I would re mount the waffles just to hide the glue runs but if thats not an option you would be better off using quick set epoxy to mount plastic tabs on the housing then use double stick 3M tape on the angel eyes to mount to the plastic tabs and it should work like a charm. take your time and have a beer while your at it !

The issue you have is the use of Super Glue. You need to use a high temp silicone adhesive. 1) it will survive the temps of the headlights when they are on and 2) it is thick enough to where you can apply the adhesive, sit the rings in place, and allow it to dry.

I am pulling mine apart this weekend bc my smaller rings had some discoloration and I am replacing them. I will take some pics.

This is absolutely true. Super glue isn't super, it sucks for most applications.
X5Dawg's suggestion is good. Epoxy is another solution as it withstands heat and is very strong.

Thanks guys, it does sound like the super glue can be the problem, but my rings only have 1 tab at the bottom. Maybe I bought the wrong Angel eye rings. These are the ones I bought and the ebay ad looked the best, they looked legit.
Ebay RINGS

Maybe that was my problem. If these are wrong can you guys send me a link to an E-bay auction that sells the correct ones?
But yeah, my rings do not have ANY tabs, except for one at the bottom. And the Rings are smaller than the black plastic headlight housing, so there was NO WAY in hell to mount/stick/poxy/super glue them down.
Thanks again.

Use RTV silicone adhesive (clear) - Put 3 beads - one at the tab 2 on the top. Hold with blue tape - wait 30 min. Those are the correct AE's BTW.

My angels only have one tab too. You can either follow Zerochief's directions or do like I did and bead the silicone all the way around.

I used double sided white 3M tape around the rings and it stays with a snug fit very well.

The reason most people here get the discoloring on the rings is because of the epoxy being used directly on the angel eyes it will discolor after time. I would recommend cutting plastic ABS tabs as your mounts then use quick set epoxy to glue those down and use 3M tape to mount the angel eyes to the new tabs. Just from experience, works great and no discoloring.

Obeticus - JLevi told me the same thing about the adhesive dicoloring, but my discoloring is occurring in the rings themselves - I have pics that show the adhesive behind the discolored parts and it is still as clear as it was the day I put them in.

In this pic you can see the reflection of the adhesive behind the ring:
