BMW ownership & vandalism :(

A lot of this has to do with how some BMW drivers are perceived.
It has to be accepted by us here, that there is a percentage of BMW ownership who buy for the brand name, it is merely a fashion accessory.
A percentage of this clientelle drive agressively getting up peoples noses,
flying a flag which says "Get out of my way little man!".
For some reason, BMW have more of these idiots than other premium brands, and as a consequence, we can all potentially suffer from vandalism and agressive road behaviour.
Your views on this?

You are probably right on there. It is odd though that the same driving behaviour in a bimmer gets a different reaction than say in a honda or an old pickup. I drive the same no matter what car I am in...if anything I drive more sedated in the X because it's more valuable.

I think the reason why bimmer drivers may be more aggressive than other premium brands is because a BMW begs to be driven hard...that and most Mercedes drivers are blue haired and on a pace maker. IMO

Hows the new X holding up there in Ireland? I hope you are enjoying it to its fullest extent!

..oh and where can I get one of those flags?

OK - I find myself guilty of driving like I own the road at times. I am not proud of it, but it is hard to control. My wife as a RX300 (which we are trading for a 4.8 when it arrives in Oct!!!), but I end up driving it most of the time b/c it is a lease and she travels alot. When I get in our M3, I get wherever I am going and realize that I was driving like a jerk and probably just left a trail of pissed off drivers behind. Maybe once the 4.8 comes in, it won't be such an adjustment and I will learn to drive them both with some restraint. Maybe not, though.

TDI you are absolutely right..I drive like a snail and people still look at me like they want to kill me..I live in a small English village with even smaller roads where right of way maens whoever gets there first..

SO occasionally I will "speed up" to beat the person coming my way, and if looks could kill..But I know exactly why they look at me that way-and its because whenever I find myself wanting to get out and punch someone for the way they "take' the road, they're usually driving one of Bavaria's best..

Especially those damn 6er's!! They're all nuts!!

"I drive like a snail and people still look at me like they want to kill me"

It is the nature of the beast that a little envy does creep into the equation.
But, such is life

My 3.0D 's arrival is imminent.
Dealer says any day now.
Waiting, waiting.....
"Oh the pain, the pain"
..as the good Dr Smith used to say,
if any of you out there are old enough to remember him.
Lost in Space, the original???
Whooosh, there was my youth, gone.
Must slow down a bit.

Donegal - I did not realize that you did not have the 3.0D yet. Silver with beige, huh? Can't wait to see it. When was it built? Are you following it on Owner's Circle??

Hey, the way I look at it, we buy these cars because they can be driven hard and they can handle it. I have this discussion with my wife all the time. I buy nice cars that handle well so I can maneuver them. And I take all the precautions to make sure that I am safe and that everyone else around me is safe when I drive fast. So I might look reckless in my cars, but it's well under control of what the car and I are capable of doing

I have a personal license plate and I just got a call today from someone I know who saw me and told me I was driving kind of fast when I zoomed by them

Oh well, let's just stay safe out there.
